This place is fantastic, and Katsushi is a beer wizard. He's really creating fun, and genuinely tasty beers that rival some of the great stuff I've had in the US and Belgium. I also really enjoyed chatting with Katsushi, who was happy to share his insights on Japan.

Lovely little craft beer shop. The perfect stop on the way back from the abyss on a cold February evening! Had the spice brown ale, which is a strong brew with great mulled wine undertones. You can also have it hot — my friend did, it tastes great both hot and cold. If I stayed in Nikko longer I'd definitely come back to try the rest of the beers! The owner is very nice and the place is cozy

The beer is brewed right in the store - he had some interesting flavors. We tried the pale ale, which was light and refreshing. I also tried the corn brown ale, which was a traditional brown ale but with roasted corn which made it taste nutty. The brewer was very friendly. He has a TV so if you’re looking for somewhere to watch the Rugby World Cup, this is your place!

We are from Colorado so I like to pretend I know my beers. This place had a great coffee stout, and my wife said the IPA was great. The owner was nice and spoke English pretty well. Definitely recommend!

Super nice guy who runs the place. Beer is made on sight. Many different beers to choose from. Can bring your own food. Place also sells beer nuts and other classic snack foods. Recommend wholeheartedly. Also the place has a really nice comic collection and plays super unique movies as backdrop

Some cool and quirky ambient music, and a very odd movie on the TV, so you get a great vibe right away. The owner is very friendly and the beer is oh-so-tasty! The spice brown ale is a delicious beer, and when hot it's like the beer version of mulled wine! Sooo good. Very glad we stopped by, perfect way to warm up 😊

Tucked away along the main Omotesando strip is one of only two microbreweries in Nikko. Here, the 1989 Soviet science fiction tragicomedy Kin-dza-dza (think Monty Python meets Barbarella) plays silently on a wide screen tv (good for you if you can read the Japanese subtitles) while you sip your beer of choice from five taps, one of which is a guest tap by another Japanese microbrewery. Come for the hearty and flavourful coffee stout, stay for the owner’s impeccable music playlist. Kanpai!

Fantastic beers and amazing service

Really excellent beer in a cool setting - you can bring in your own food, charge your phone, credit card facilities available, so many things thought of to make your experience here more enjoyable! Very friendly guy who runs the place with pretty good English. We had the wheat ale, guest ale and brown ale - I can’t recommend enough!

I LOVE BEER! and I definitely love murmur's beer! The corn ale was really something! Please make sure you visit the place and have a few pints! The owner is super awesome and nice and very willing to share his extensive knowledge and experience! All his beers are brewed on site. Really cool cosy place for a pitstop in Nikko. Much better than the red bridge down the street haha

Some of the best craft beer I have ever had in my life. The spicy brown ale was my favorite. Free WiFi, microwave, hot water, charging station, bring your own food. Credit card accepted. A MUST in Nikko!

Great location to have a beer before or after your hike to the temple. The owner speaks little English but is very helpful presenting you his craft beer brewed on site. If you need a pick-up, definitely try the coffee stout. It’s the strongest beer, but also contains actual coffee.

Katsushi-san is a great host and an amazing brewer. His coffee stout and spiced brown ale are off the charts good! 11/10 would drink here again! extremely highly recommend

Cozy atmosphere and great beer brewed on premises, with an English speaking proprietor. I wouldn't call myself a beer aficionado but I have been to many craft breweries in the US (most places in NYC area, Dogfish Head, many places in Oregon in the Portland and Bend area) and I would say that the beer at Murmur is better than most. Katsushi-san has great taste in manga and art as well. 100% would recommend for a great time in Nikko.

Amazing little beer stop in the middle of downtown Nikko. The owner was friendly and cheerful and the beer was exceptional. His spiced brown ale is the best beer I've had in Japan!

They sell their own brewed beers. They also have snack like nuts to match with the beer. Their beer tastes amazing and is a must try. The shop owner Mr. Suto is a very nice man and speaks english and nihonggo. If you are around the area and looking for a later hangout place, this is it. Most of the restaurants and shops closes at 8-9pm. This one closes later.

Excellent place for a chill out. The IPA is delicious. The bartender is very friendly! 500 yen for a 250ml home brew-give it a shot :)
